Job Description

Work Days and Expected Hours:

Monday-Friday:8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

(Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department).

Function: The Verafin System Administrator acts as the systems specialist for the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering / Countering the Finance of Terrorism (AML/CFT) systems including, but not limited to, Verafin. The Verafin System Administrator assists Financial Intelligence Group (FIG) management, including the FIG Officer and Deputy FIG Officer, in operating and maintaining software applications used in the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (AML/CFT) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Compliance Programs. Such duties include implementing features, conducting tuning and optimization exercises, and building and generating reports from within the system to ensure a high level of compliance with AML/CFT-related laws, rules, and regulations, internal policies and procedures, and federal and state regulatory expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • AML/CFT Software Systems

    • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for Verafin and other AML/CFT software applications used in the AML/CFT and OFAC Compliance Programs

    • Serves as the SME for AML/CFT-related features within other banking systems, including FIS systems

    • Serves as the primary contact for Financial Intelligence Group (FIG) staff to answer questions related to the system

    • Monitors data imports to ensure all are received and analyzed as expected

    • Performs daily transaction validation between Verafin and core data as a control to ensure system data quality

    • Submits, monitors, and assists in resolving support cases with software vendor

    • Develops and administers system user roles and permissions as well as access management

    • Enhances, develops, implements, and administers the system to ensure that appropriate configuration to identify unusual and suspicious activity, accurately risk rate customers, and perform accurate sanctions screening

    • Develops methods for and administers testing and validation of the systems to ensure data is accurately reflected and appropriately tuned

    • Prepares, reviews, and maintains work papers and reports related to system reviews

    • Creates, generates, reviews, monitors, and follows up on daily, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports and dashboards from within the system

    • Drafts and updates procedures related to use of the software for FIG staff and other business units

  • FRAML Program Duties

    • Assists the FIG Officer and Deputy FIG Officer with:

      • Federal and state examination requests and internal audit requests

      • Data retrieval from within the systems for risk assessments

      • Working with vendor conducting model validation and tuning and optimizations

    • Identifies and advises FIG Officer and Deputy FIG Officer on policy and procedural enhancements/changes, as needed to comply with regulatory changes

    • Provides the FIG Officer and Deputy FIG Officer with monthly reports and quarterly key performance indicator (KPI) metrics evaluating the completion of FIG duties such as acknowledged alerts, closed cases, and submitted and accepted suspicious activity reports (SARs) and currency transaction reports (CTRs)

    • Builds relationships with other business units using the systems to ensure consistency with procedures across all locations and effectively communicates information verbally and in writing

  • Training

    • Serves as a resource by answering inquiries from FIG staff about procedures and documentation

    • Responds to inquiries from other business units about procedures and documentation

    • Responsible for ongoing reviews and self-education of changes related to AML/CFT/OFAC regulations and the USA PATRIOT Act

    • Maintains knowledge of bank products, services, customers, geographic locations, and potential money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) risks to assist in training others

  • Other Duties as assigned:

    • Assists in the completion of other projects within the group, as needed

    • Demonstrates appropriate personal and interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication, and initiative when working with FIG staff and other business units to ensure a high level of support to the overall management of the AML/CFT and OFAC Compliance Programs

Physical Demands

80% of the day is spent operating a keypad device. Use of electronic equipment is required 80% and use of a mouse 80% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18"-20" for computer work. 90% of the business day requires sitting straight and 10% walking at a slow speed. Education

Requires a four-year college degree or equivalent experience related to BSA/AML/OFAC compliance or the administration and maintenance of banking software systems. Responsible for possessing basic knowledge of or the capability to understand of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to Anti-Money Launder / Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and financial crimes including fraud, such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 (AMLA), USA PATRIOT Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Certified Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or similar certification preferred.

Experience

Requires two to five years of general experience and one to two years of specialized experience in banking and/or BSA/AML Compliance, Fraud monitoring/detection, Verafin or similar monitoring software.

Salary Range:

$36,438.00 - $70,000.00
