Job Description
SUMMARY

The Videographer plays a crucial role within Montgomery County Commissioners' Office by creating engaging and informative visual content to effectively communicate with the public, stakeholders, and internal teams. The Videographer is responsible for producing high-quality videos that showcase the activities, initiatives, and messages of Montgomery County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Video Production: Conceptualize, plan, shoot, and edit videos that align with the communication goals and priorities of the Montgomery County Commissioners' Office. This includes but is not limited to event coverage, interviews, promotional videos, educational content, and public service announcements;
  • Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives and storylines that effectively convey key messages and engage the target audience. Utilize creative storytelling techniques to captivate viewers and evoke emotion;
  • Equipment Management: Maintain and operate video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio recording devices, and editing software. Ensure equipment is properly maintained, and troubleshoot any technical issues as needed;
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Commissioners, department heads, and communication team members, to identify video needs and opportunities. Work closely with colleagues to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all video content.
  • Research and Planning: Conduct research to stay informed about relevant topics, trends, and best practices in video production and communication strategies. Develop production schedules, shot lists, and scripts to effectively plan video shoots and maximize efficiency;
  • Post-Production: Edit video footage using professional editing software to produce polished and visually appealing final products. Add graphics, music, sound effects, and other elements as necessary to enhance the overall quality and impact of the videos;
  • Distribution: Coordinate the distribution and promotion of videos through various channels, including social media, websites, email newsletters, and public events. Monitor engagement metrics and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of video content and make adjustments as needed;
  • Compliance: Ensure that all video content complies with legal and regulatory requirements, including copyright laws, privacy policies, and accessibility standards. Obtain necessary permissions and releases for individuals appearing in videos, as required.

Top of Form

  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field;
  • Proven experience in video production, including shooting, editing, and post-production techniques;
  • Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar programs;
  • Strong creative vision and storytelling abilities, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in video production, social media, and digital marketing;
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Familiarity with local government operations and policies is a plus;
  • A portfolio of previous video work demonstrating technical skills and creative capabilities is required.
