THE POSITION

The Department of Education is looking for a dedicated Education Administrative Specialist to enforce the regulations of the Private Licensed Schools Act and handle challenging tasks to support the state board of private licensed schools. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, your responsibilities will include implementing the requirements of the Private Licensed Schools Act, related regulations, and Board policy memos. You will provide guidance and support to schools and their students, as well as assist in developing modifications to the regulations of the State Board of Private Licensed Schools. Additionally, you will assess the impact of Board regulations on schools, students, or the public and suggest changes to the Division Chief. You will also be responsible for responding in writing to inquiries and requests from government officials and staff, the public, and other states. Furthermore, you will guide schools and the public on application submission procedures and requirements, and maintain effective communication with other agencies to facilitate referrals and information exchanges. It will be your duty to manage and monitor work assignments, school requests, application reviews, and compliance visits to ensure timely completion. It will be important to ensure that full payment is received before delivering services and to investigate potential unlicensed activities. In cases where schools violate Board regulations and policies, you will take enforcement action and issue written notices of preliminary violations and unlicensed activity.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • 9 - month limited term, full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional experience in education including at least two years in educational administration; or
  • One year of experience as an Education Administration Associate; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
