Job Summary

The Executive Director of Development is responsible for fundraising for the College of Engineering (COE), School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems (BIOMED) and the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI). They will work closely with the Deans, Associate Deans, and key faculty in COE, CCI and BIOMED, as well as Institutional Advancement senior management.

The Executive Director of Development is a key member of the Institutional Advancement team (IA) and reports directly to the Assistant Vice President, Development (Unit Leader).

This position has supervisory responsibilities. This is a Hybrid position that will work from the office on a weekly basis.

Essential Functions

  • Secures major, principal, and planned gifts and develops future CoE, CCI, and BIOMED major donors by pursuing the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of private support from individuals capable of making commitments of $50,000 or more.
  • Develops detailed strategies and goals for the top 25 prospects.
  • Manages the Leadership Annual Giving Officer (LAGO), creating and evaluating a monthly outreach plan that outlines fundraising goals and strategies for prospects with potential to make commitments from $2,500-$49,999.
  • Collaborates with the Deans of CoE, CCI, and BIOMED to increase the College/School's development efforts; this includes executing high-level donor meetings and fundraising events.
  • Serves as the IA point-person for the College of Engineering's Alumni Industry Board (AIB), working closely with the Dean and Vice Dean.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Vice President/Unit Leader to serve in a support role in recruiting, retaining, and strategically managing high-net worth volunteers for the College of Computing Dean's Executive Advisory Council.
  • Works with the Assistant Director of Development on stewardship reporting and unit specific communications.
  • In consultation with the Unit Leader, partners with the IA Engagement team and unit colleagues to determine the appropriate annual giving plans for the Unit.
  • Promotes University priorities and image to constituents and serves as front line staff to promote campus goals and objectives.
  • Maintains current knowledge of university-wide institutional priorities. Collaborates with IA colleagues across units.
  • Follows Institutional Advancement procedures regarding prospect management and documenting contacts.
  • Responsible for oversight and submission of all relative fund-raising reports, statistics, projections and publications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of demonstrated fundraising success in a development program, preferably with an educational institution.
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts of $100,000+.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and domestically frequently (6-8 time a year).
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in teams and individually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with senior-level executives.
  • Knowledge of prospect management systems.
  • Knowledge of database fundraising software CS Advance.
  • Advanced degree.

Location

Hybrid: Remote/University City, Philadelphia PA

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade N. Compensation for this grade ranges from $90,430 to $135,640 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
