Willdan is seeking a Commercial Building Energy Auditor to join our innovative and creative team. The qualified individual will be responsible for audits of existing commercial, industrial, and other buildings. The Energy Auditor will play an important role in support and implementation of existing building custom energy efficiency programs. This will include consulting on individual existing building projects as well as developing tools, energy efficiency measures and delivery strategies to support the programs as a whole.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and education to targeted customers and schedule energy efficiency audits.
  • Work directly with building owners, architects, and engineers to understand their energy conservation goals and gather the information needed to analyze energy saving options.
  • Assist management staff to quantify energy savings, financial savings and other customer benefits.
  • Communicate energy conservation measures effectively to both technical and non-technical project team members to assist them in making informed design decisions.
  • Review Construction Documents to perform the necessary take offs for lighting, occupancy sensor controls, and daylighting strategies to verify the characteristics of the envelope and HVAC systems.
  • Prepare reports detailing the achievement of energy saving goals, which incudes working with energy analysts to develop these reports and project mangers to ensure high quality results and deliverables.
  • Manage a high-volume portfolio of projects at different stages of a consulting process.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Work in cross functional teams including program support as needed.
  • Perform lead follow ups, go to sites for customer meetings and evaluate facility.
  • Engagement in any and all geographical areas critical to program success.


Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Previous experience with existing building custom energy efficiency programs.
  • Knowledge of building design, renovation and constructions processes, and/or building operation.
  • Demonstrated experience with building energy analysis including: interpreting complex information; performing cost/benefit analysis; assessing consequences and impacts of alternative system options.
  • Previous experience developing and supporting energy efficiency measures, strategies and deliveries in IOU sponsored existing building custom energy efficiency programs.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, physics, and mathematics preferred.
  • Knowledge of utility sponsored energy efficiency programs, specifically those that target existing buildings preferred.
  • Knowledge of energy codes and standards such as ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1, 189.1, IECC preferred.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or qualifications to enable achieving licensure preferred.
  • Industry related certifications such as certified energy manager (CEM), building energy modeling professional (BEMP), LEED accredited professional, building energy assessment professional (BEAP) and/or commissioning authority (CxA) preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks to ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
  • Above average competence with Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel for data analysis and energy simulation support.
  • Valid Drivers License.
