What success looks like in this role:

Unisys has been providing IBM mainframe managed services to its clients since 1989. Unisys is seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise Associate with expertise in mainframe operations, specifically with VSE and the PCS scheduler, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a background in mainframe systems management, with a strong preference for experience with z/OS or VSE. The role involves monitoring and maintaining critical mainframe systems, handling incident reports, managing requests, and ensuring seamless operations of mainframe infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor and manage both production and test mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
* Schedule and execute batch jobs efficiently, ensuring timely processing and minimal disruptions.
* Manage and maintain the CA FAQS scheduling tool, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
* Provide training and support to users on how to navigate and utilize the scheduling tool effectively.
* Analyze usage data and provide reports to management on system effectiveness and areas for improvement.
* Stay informed about updates and developments in scheduling software and make recommendations for enhancements to the tool.
* Collaborate with IT teams to implement any necessary upgrades or modifications to the system.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding data privacy and security.
* Operate the Z/VSE CA FAQS/PCS scheduling tool to ensure the accurate and timely execution of batch jobs and other scheduled tasks within the mainframe environment.
* Perform regular maintenance tasks on the scheduling tool, including configuration updates, software upgrades, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
* Monitor the scheduling tool for errors, abnormalities, or performance issues. Investigate and resolve any issues that arise in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maintain system integrity.
* Maintain detailed documentation of scheduling processes, configurations, and procedures to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.
* Provide support and assistance to users of the scheduling tool, including troubleshooting issues, answering inquiries, and providing guidance on best practices for job scheduling and management.
* Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate the scheduling tool with other systems and applications as required, ensuring seamless operation and data flow across the organization's IT infrastructure.
* Identify opportunities for enhancing the functionality and efficiency of the scheduling tool. Propose and implement improvements, optimizations, and automation where applicable to streamline processes and improve productivity.
* Compliance: Ensure that scheduling processes and procedures adhere to relevant compliance and security standards, such as regulatory requirements and internal policies.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

* University degree or equivalent education and experience
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in mainframe operations
* Experience with mainframe operating systems, including z/OS and VSE, and familiarity with CICS.
* Strong knowledge of mainframe tools and utilities such as FAQS/PCS, FAVER II, MASTERCAT, VSNPCPS, and TMON.
* Proficiency in incident management tools like ServiceNow for efficient incident reporting and tracking.
* Familiarity with tape backup systems and procedures for restoring files and data.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
