THE POSITION

Are you someone who loves being outside and getting your hands dirty? If so, then the Semi-Skilled Laborer position at Shikellamy State Park Complex may be the perfect job for you. Shikellamy State Park Complex is looking for a positive individual who strives to keep the park facilities in good working order for the safe, enjoyable recreation and relaxation of our park visitors.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you may work alone or assist a skilled worker in performing routine maintenance and construction tasks at Shikellamy State Park complex to include Shikellamy State Park, Shikellamy Overlook, Milton State Park, Susquehanna State Park, Adam T. Bower Memorial Inflatable Dam and the Shikellamy Nature-Like Fishway. Your responsibilities will include repairing structures and facilities using a range of tools, operating vehicles and equipment, and ensuring the upkeep of the grounds through tasks like mowing, weed cutting, and cleaning. You will also be involved in site preparation, planting, and general maintenance. Handling minor repairs and ensuring the safe use of equipment and tools are part of your duties, along with assisting park visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time seasonal employment, without benefits
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Scheduled days will vary based on operational needs
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
