As one of the oldest forms of applied science and engineering, Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Metallurgical Engineering was founded in 1906 and named after its emphasis on the study of metals. Since then, our field has broadened to include all classes of materials from ceramics and polymers to semiconductors and biological materials.Whereas early eras of civilization were widely identified by human's ability to work with new material (Stone Age, Bronze Age), today our abilities and projects span a variety of materials and combine everything from physics and chemistry to civil and electrical engineering.

We are currently searching for aPostdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by conducting research on the growth and characterization of gallium-oxide epitaxial films, and such other tasks as may be assigned to you.

Core responsibilities include:

• Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.

• Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies may be required depending on area and specialty.

• Participating in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.

• Collecting and analyzing data, including periodical/literature search.

• Other duties as assigned.
