DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During this internship, you will be responsible for executing a range of skilled trade tasks related to repairing parts, performing structural welding on bridge components, fixing frames on equipment, hitches, and plows, as well as fabricating repair and body parts for various applications. You will have the opportunity to improve your skills and gain valuable experience in welding, specifically on construction equipment. It is essential to have a solid understanding of basic mechanical functions, welding principles, and the operation of welding equipment to excel in this role.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This internship will take place in summer or fall of 2024.
  • If you are selected for this position, you will work directly with your workplace supervisor to determine a work schedule that coordinates with your school schedule.
  • Students will be responsible for their own transportation, parking, and related costs unless otherwise noted.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • You must be at least 16 years old at time of hire.
  • You must be in a junior- or senior-year status during the 2024-25 school year.
  • You must have completed sophomore year of high school at time of hire.

Additional Requirements:
  • Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
  • Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
  • By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
  • Must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational training program that has prepared the student for the duties and the description of work described in this posting.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
