The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a forward-thinking Payroll Sr. Specialist, who will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all North American subsidiaries and companies. **Ability to travel to corporate office in Radnor, PA once every other week**

What we're looking for

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in payroll processing, with a proven track record of handling complex payroll scenarios and maintaining data integrity.

  • Relevant payroll certifications (e.g., CPP) are advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws.

  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel; experience with HRIS and TimeKeeping systems is a plus. Preference is given to candidates who have Workday Payroll & TimeTracking experience.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

  • Effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a designated group of employees and companies, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, salaries, bonuses, and other compensation components. Process both regular and special payroll runs efficiently and accurately.

  • Data Accuracy: Maintain precise employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and timekeeping records. Perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.

  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor laws. Ensure that payroll processes adhere to all legal requirements, including accurate tax withholding, benefit deductions, and statutory contributions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, and other departments to obtain necessary information for payroll processing and resolve any issues related to compensation and deductions.

  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues promptly. Provide excellent customer service to employees by addressing inquiries related to payroll matters.

  • Reporting: Prepare and distribute various payroll reports to management and other business teams, including payroll summaries, tax reports, and other relevant analyses. Generate reports to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, enhance efficiency, and improve data accuracy. Participate in system upgrades or implementations to ensure seamless payroll integration.

  • Training and Mentorship: Assist in training and mentoring junior payroll staff members, providing guidance on payroll procedures, regulations, and best practices.
