Job Description

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform a variety of engineering work which may be related to process design/layout, mechanical, manufacturing, tooling, automation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Support Company Safety, Service, Quality, Productivity and Growth goals.
  • Support process improvement, reduction of downtime, cost reduction, TPM improvements, and corrective action teams.
  • Eliminate waste through implementation of the Ammega Production System.
  • Work on daily and long-term problems/projects using manufacturing, quality, and lean tools to resolve issues (i.e. PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, CAPEX, ERP systems, Work Orders, Layout, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other engineers, designers, maintenance, supervisors, and hourly line associates to effectively problem solve, implement solutions, and support Continuous/Safety improvements all in alignment with the Ammega Production System.
  • Support projects, determine cost estimates, design concepts and engineering criteria along with conceptual process layouts for given project.
  • Support process tooling, fixture, and equipment design, purchase, and maintenance.
  • Develop safety, ergonomic, and material handling improvement solutions.
  • Serve assembly operations as key support person for resolution of problems, barrier elimination, implementing improvement actions, and driving projects to completion.
  • Selecting, designing, and maintaining the appropriate tools and equipment needed for customization and assembly operations to maximize safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing daily processing activities and for long range strategic improvements.
  • May be involved with auxiliary equipment to support assembly operation such as robots, fork trucks, hoists, etc.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to help achieve operational goals.
  • Train employees, provide feedback on performance, assign and direct work as needed.
  • Develop and maintain all departmental procedures & work instructions.
  • Help promote a positive work environment with engaged employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical, Engineering and 3+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience programming, operating, and / or supporting a CNC machining operation.
  • Experience with Solid works, Inventor, or similar CAD drawing software.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge at a Yellow Belt level.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, scientific and technical journals, engineering drawings, and procedures.

  • Proficiency with MS office (word, spreadsheets), database applications, e-mail and internet research.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership ability.

  • Able to work safely in a production environment around moving mechanical parts, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
