Westinghouse Electric Company, Nuclear Fuel, is seeking a Senior Engineer / Project Manager in the Digitalization and Capital Projects group for its Specialty Metals Plant (SMP) located in Blairsville, Pennsylvania. The employees of SMP manufacture zirconium-alloy tubing products used in nuclear fuel assemblies for Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel, our licensees, and other customers worldwide. At our facility, we use state-of-the-art manufacturing and inspection systems to meet the exacting standards and demanding tolerances required by our customers.

In this position, a Senior Engineer / Project Manager can expect the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project management on low to complex projects through all project processes in order to meet project EHS, scope, budget, timing, and business case goals.
  • Responsibility for project leadership begins at the initiation stage and includes business case and charter development, economic and technical feasibility assessment, scope, spec, and concept design development, funds approval, detailed design, development and fabrication, IQ/OQ/PQ (installation qualification / operational qualification / production qualification), training, and project close-out.
  • Project leadership requires integration of team efforts across multifunctional groups with a focus on ensuring compliance to safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct use and deployment of the FEL (Front End Loaded) process for robust scope, spec, design, and post-project reviews with well-described criteria for approval. Execute the FEL process across the portfolio of projects to level resource and spending requirements throughout the year.
  • Ensure specifications contain robust criteria for all stages of the project (functional, design, fab, IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Mitigate risk through risk register development and mitigating actions with robust tracking.
  • Develop contingency registers, plans and budgets with rationale at the deliverable level.
  • Provide routine and concise updates on status against scope, budget, timing, and business case goals.
  • Develop positive relationships with cross-functional/product line team, customer, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive projects to successful completion.
  • Work with EH&S team to ensure compliance to applicable requirements including ergonomic and energy control requirements and safety and environmental regulations.
  • Apply engineering analytical skills to identify root cause failures and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
  • Prepare technical papers and make formal presentations to internal and / or external customers or other stakeholders.
  • Analyze and make proposals for new business opportunities and implement strategic plans.
  • Seek opportunities and implement continuous improvements to enhance project performance.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related technical discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a project manager role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with the ProjectManagement Institute (PMI)'s Project Management Body of Knowledge. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other approved equivalent project management certification is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Project.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed properly and on time.
  • Able to effectively multi-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities.
