Overview (Scope of Role)

The purpose of the Global Marketing Manager, Engineered Surfaces (ES), is to lead global and regional marketing activities to support the growth strategy with the focus on priority markets, products and project initiatives providing differentiation in order to improve Surfaces profitability and market position as well as drive growth in key and new markets

The role will:

    Help restructure and lead the color/design innovation program in the Wellness and B&C segments as well as provide overall direction to color/design developments Engineered Surfaces will need to develop/obsolete based on current trends.
  • Define annual promotional priorities and establish annual global Marketing plan in cooperation with regional sales and BD, work with MarCom team and guide them, by providing strategic and content directions, to build and execute the associated MarCom budget and plan per region for all promotional activities.
  • Build Value Propositions per main product family and/or per market, define, develop and always strive to modernize sales support materials.
  • Lead marketing development for major brands such as Avonite, AcrySpa, Altuglas and Plexiglas, by tracking new needs or generating new ideas
  • Cooperate with other functions to translate ideas into meaningful innovation

The Global Marketing Manager will also ensure there is effective knowledge-sharing and communication between and within the regions from a marketing perspective. They will cooperate with the regional Marketing resource in EMEA (15% FTE) and will interact with Marketing Managers from other business units within Trinseo.

This is a remote role that with a strong preference for the individual being based in one of Trinseo's key locations in the United States including Florence, KY, Midland, MI or the Philadelphia, PA area.

Responsibilities

Global Marketing Plan:

  • Develop and deploy global marketing strategy and plans to drive profitable growth across segments and regions.
  • Define ES Marcom priorities and agree on a MarCom annual budget to achieve the plan and guide MarCom team in each region on all marketing activities for Surfaces.
  • Strive for always improving means of communication through better sales literature forms, social media activity, trade show strategies, communications strategy, promotion strategy.
  • Support digital/interactive marketing strategies and solutions, including website development, mobile applications, email marketing and social media campaigns/management.

Product Portfolio Management:

  • Align marketing strategies and plans with the R&D (Accolade projects,...), BD, Product Management to support new product development using market insights.
  • Lead innovation programs related to new designs and colors. Coordinate validation of ideas with technology capabilities. Lead marketing development for major brands such as Avonite Solid Surface, AcrySpa range, Altuglas and Plexiglas acrylic sheets, by tracking new needs or generating new ideas.
  • Utilize business strategy, business cases, and growth potential to guide project selection and prioritization.

Market Positioning:

  • Help develop customer value propositions supporting BU technologies and customer facing presentations in cooperation with R&D and BD teams.
  • Drive implementation and monitor results. Monitor trademark protection in conjunction with industry leadership and legal counsel

Marketing Intelligence:

  • lead the analysis of trends in products and markets.
  • Track activities of customers and competitors and communicate to the business and technical teams on a regular basis including recommended strategic activity.
  • Cooperate with BI team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline, or related field. Advanced degree in management a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing in the plastics, polymers, or specialty chemicals industry. Experience in industrial segments where product design mattered will be a strong plus.
  • Strong business acumen, experience with marketing practices and methodologies,
