Job Location: Lemont Furnace, PA (Relocation package to PA area)

Title: Director of Supply Chain Management

Position Summary: Ensure overall direction for Supply Chain (Strategic Supply Management and Procurement, and may include adjacent functions such as planning, warehousing and logistics) while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of procurement processes at a detailed level as well as higher organizational level. Work with others to establish methodologies to resolve process issues.

Primary & Essential Accountabilities:

  • Ensure overall direction for Supply Chain (Strategic Supply Management and Procurement, that includes adjacent functions such as planning, warehousing and logistics) while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of procurement processes at a detail level as well as higher organizational levels.
  • Work with others to establish methodologies to resolve process issues.
  • Ensure processes comply with Government, Corporate and Company requirements.
  • Manage a multi-discipline team.
  • Foster the professional development of entry-level personnel and interns through on-the-job training, consultation, and mentorship.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategy for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Monitor metrics and take action as appropriate.
  • Communicate and clarify departmental goals and metrics.
  • Lead the efforts to update the monthly non-labor receipt forecasts and supply chain labor forecasts in support of AAC's corporate financial KPIs.
  • Responsible for ensuring monthly budgets are not exceeded; take action to realign to plan if budgets are exceeded.
  • Review placement to requisition need date and length of time in purchasing.
  • Advise planning, engineering and contracts of changes in prices or lead times that make and produce cost-prohibitive or lead times detrimental to production cycles.
  • Manage the process to maintain and follow up with AAC's qualified suppliers in regard to open purchase orders and prospective orders
  • Expedite critical components to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Lead material proposal efforts and assist team members through identifying alternate parts, manufacturers & suppliers via internet searches & networking, conducting make versus buy decisions, ensuring adequate safety stocks/spares are ordered and maintained, and consulting with suppliers to determine product specifications.
  • Utilize company ERP system to execute supply chain related actions, as well as create and prepare reports based on material data.
  • Manage the supplier qualification and evaluation process.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Quality on a team approach to supplier assessments and approval.
  • Respond to material inquiries/issues from the receiving department.
  • Manage the efforts to provide technical input and labor projections for production proposal efforts and material cost input for all proposal efforts.
  • Create cost bills of material for proposal efforts using technical data package. Read and interpret engineering drawings, parts lists, and production bills of material to make more informed proposal bid decisions and establish potential ordering requirements.
  • Hold material pricing kick-off meetings with the Supply Chain Team after the initial Kick-Off held by the Proposal Manager
  • Support efforts to ensure AAC maintains its Approved Contractor Purchasing System status, including leading the monitoring of AAC's purchasing system & preparations for DCMA Contractor Purchasing System Reviews (CPSR)
  • Actively participate and lead discussion in weekly internal status reviews and supply chain meetings
  • Participate in ISO audits, resolve problem tickets, and develop/implement supply chain process improvements.
  • Look for creative ways to improve purchasing ability to make contributions to the company's goals.
  • Improve understanding of purchasing relationship to the overall company plans and strategy.
  • Research and analyze costing information for cost reduction.
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks on time and within budget.
  • Enforce company and department policies and procedures.
  • Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or business with a minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in high technology, aerospace or defense or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge of supply chain management tools and procedures
  • Expert leadership and management skills, particularly "influence management" and "conflict resolution"
  • Significant experience throughout the product lifecycle from New Product Introduction through obsolescence to include generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, strategic supplier selection, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement efforts.
  • Experience with earned value cost accounting and reporting; experience with metrics for assessing and reporting programs and/or commodity progress, productivity and variance analysis.
  • Experience in finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and DoD, ITAR, EAR, FAR, DFAR regulations.
  • Experience with and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Deltek Costpoint preferred)
  • Experience supporting preparation, conduct & finding closure for DCMA Contractor Purchasing System Reviews (CPSR)
  • Superior customer interface skills
  • Expert problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, program reviews, scheduling and budget control.
  • Must have a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/defense supply chain activities
  • Must have excellent leadership and oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional certification highly preferred
