Manager, Supply Planning

Primary Responsibilities for the Manager, Supply Planning

  • Manage the SAP IBP (Integrated Business Planning) S&OP (Sale and Operation Planning) to create realistic supply plans to meet the demand plan; includes review of mid to long term rough-cut capacity planning.
  • Continuously improve the monthly IBP cycle, including timeliness of the demand and supply submission, reduction of cycle-time, robust alignment with projections.
  • Oversight for melt planning and scheduling process at facility, including the optimization of raw materials, creation of melt planning wheel, and close collaboration with operations department.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly melt schedules that satisfy AOP (Annual Operating Plan) requirements while driving down costs (raw material purchases).
  • Establish monthly plan for the business with communication to the entire team. Determine metrics to track ongoing success. Flow material from operation to operation to sequence material to downstream facilities.
  • Driving alignment between the planning, demand, finance, sales, and operation teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement through cost reduction, increased throughput, and process improvement.
  • Managing and analyzing monthly/quarterly departmental manufacturing goals and work in partnership with the operational team on ways to continuously improve
  • Analyze and implement strategies for improved material flow from melting through finished goods inventory.
  • Provide analytical support and leadership within the planning department.
  • Elimination of waste and nonvalue added activities within the entire supply chain.
  • Coordinate production goals to accomplish customer on-time delivery
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required for the Manager, Supply Planning

  • 4-year degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field. MBA Preferred
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving skills
  • 5 years of analytical experience in a supply chain background.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of all aspects of the supply chain activities.
  • The ability to successfully manage people to accomplish team goals and objectives.
  • Previous melt shop planning experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing plant preferred.
  • Experience effectively leading teams or sub-teams.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Customer focused and develops innovative services, technologies or products that address needs or problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with presentation communication skills both within Carpenter and with customers and suppliers outside of Carpenter.
