Job Description/Essential Functions:

Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, homelessness and/or substance abuse. With over 100 locations throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice.

We seek a qualified Director of Communications & Development to provide leadership to the Communications & Development Department and oversee the agency's branding, marketing, community awareness & engagement, communications and fund development.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position's responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee all elements of branding and marketing of the agency, which includes branding guidelines, digital marketing, brochures and other materials that are consistent with the agency brand.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of strategies to build community awareness and through networking, social media strategies, media coverage, thought leadership, website, newsletters and emails.
  • Create and foster relationships between the agency and outside contacts by representing the agency at functions and in meetings held by local, regional and professional associations, elected officials, local businesses, community organizations and institutions whose activities impact on agency activities, programs and services.
  • Lead the agency's content strategy across all channels, including but not limited to the website, social media, annual report, newsletters, digital marketing, email messages, brochures, fact sheets and presentations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet the agency's fundraising goals and activities including annual appeal, grants, events, crowd funding and other campaigns. Develop, impellent and enhance the awareness of agency charitable donation programs. Enhance methods of donating including various forms of media.
Job Qualifications:

An successful applicant will have the following:

  • M.A. degree in Journalism, Communication, Social Services, Public or Social Work Administration and ten years' experience in communications, fundraising and/or marketing.

  • A minimum of five years' development experience, including proposal writing or any combination of experience or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required.

  • The ability to be a creative and strategic thought partner to the executive leadership team on communications and development

  • A passion for storytelling, strong communications and presentation skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications and brand awareness campaigns.

  • Analytical and strategic planning skills and a talent for building relationships across constituencies.

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, video creation/editing

  • Must be available for local travels, as required, using own transportation.


Scope:

  • Required sitting for long periods of time.
  • Light lifting and/or carrying, not to exceed 25 lbs.
