Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The candidate will provide financial support, working closely with the Associate Administrator, for the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine. Prepares financial reports and analyses as it relates to the academic mission. This includes sponsored projects, university accounts and clinical programs. Handles financial and sensitive information in a highly confidential manner both accurately and timely. Liaison support for departmental faculty.

CORE FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Monitor the activity of the Departments College, Research, Foundation, and Discretionary accounts. Review and perform monthly reconciliation of all financial statements. Analyze and report variances to prior year and budget as applicable; prepare financial/statistical reports as needed.

  • Organizes and coordinates administrative activities in multiple departmental locations, providing oversight to the operations and manages staff in accordance with University and hospital policies and procedures.

  • Review divisional financial transactions as it relates to Concur; including requests to purchase, requests for payment, IDTs, cost transfers, P-Card, petty cash, PARs, travel, comp, Identify and assign correct charge codes for all expenditures. Ensure transactions do not exceed budgeted funds or violate policies for approved expenditures.

  • Assist with pre-award and post-award RACE and JCRI transactions for assigned PIs; assists with budget preparation and ensure timely preparation of PARs, cost transfers, PAF changes; act as liaison with the Office of Research Administration, Research Administrative Centers of Excellence and the Office of Research Compliance for sponsored studies including human subjects, animal protocols, radiation safety and biohazard/biosafety regulations.

  • Knows policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties. Uses sound judgment and handles matters in a highly confidential manner, timely and accurately.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Bachelorrsquo;s Degree Business or Accounting.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

None

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 5 years of financial administration experience preferably in an academic medical center. Experience in Hyperion, PeopleSoft, Concur, Excel highly preferred. Pathology experience strongly preferred.
