Job Description/Essential Functions:
Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania's oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice.


We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Drug and Alcohol Professional. The position has responsibility for providing substance abuse services, education, support and consultation to families; and provide crisis intervention under the clinical supervision of staff with professional degrees. Other responsibilities include the following:

* Coordinate with outside inpatient services to detoxify clients and establish linkage to self-help programs (e.g., Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous) outpatient services and residential services.
* Participate in providing treatments and dual diagnosis services.
* Assist in the provision of ongoing assessment of clients' mental illness symptoms and clients' responses to treatment.
* Make appropriate changes in treatment plans to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions are provided in response to changes in mental status or behavior that put clients at risk (e.g., suicidal).
* Assist in the provision of direct clinical services to clients on an individual, group and family basis in the office and in community settings to teach behavioral symptom management techniques to alleviate and manage symptoms not reduced by medication and to promote personal growth and development by assisting clients to adapt to and cope with internal and external stresses.
* Organize and lead individual and group social and recreational activities to help structure clients' time, increase social experiences, and provide opportunities to practice social skills and receive feedback and support.
Job Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have:

* Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling or Social Work required, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the fields of Mental Health/Substance Abuse. Master's degree preferred.
* CAC or CADC is required, with ongoing coursework in drug and alcohol counseling to qualify for re-certification.
* Must have great communication, analytical and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team.
* Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.

Scope

* Frequent talking and listening.
* Manual dexterity.
* May require crisis intervention in emergency situations.
* Flexibility in scheduling and available to do 24 hour on-call coverage.
* Light lifting and/or carrying, not to exceed 25 lbs.
* Local travel required, including transporting program clients.
* May be required to report to work during emergencies, including inclement weather.


Scope:
* Frequent talking and listening.
* Requires the ability to lift 25 pounds, carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop and bend which may include direct intervention with participants.
* Possess manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
* Must be available for local travel and possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
* Must carry a mobile phone during scheduled working hours and scheduled on-call services.
* As essential personnel, may be required to report to work during emergencies including inclement weather.
* Requires crisis intervention and availability to respond in emergency situations.
