Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating volunteer services with staff and families of Hospice patients as well as other unit support. Provides administrative support to the Executive Director in the day-to-day operation of the department. Manages office and billing matters for efficient operation, as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Must possess valid WV or neighboring state driver's license and must maintain WV or neighboring state minimum auto insurance

2. Post high school education required in Business, Communications, or Psychology.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of experience in a hospice or other health related field

OR

BSW (Bachelor's degree in Social Work)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Assigns volunteers according to the age specific/psychosocial needs of each patient and the skill level of volunteers. Assigns volunteers to perform clerical /data entry or patient care tasks.

2. Collaborates with the Hospice Director for patient care needs regarding volunteer use in patient homes.

3. Performs initial assessment of volunteer needs with patient/ family/caregiver by phone and when needed may include in-house visits Meets with volunteer to discuss patient needs prior to services beginning.

4. Maintains confidentiality of information related to Hospice.

5. Communicates patient care problems or potential problems to the Director and/or other I.D.T. members to assure continuity and coordination of care.

6. Answers telephone, appropriately in a timely manner, receives and records messages and directs them to the appropriate employees, greets public, answers inquiries, and directs visitors to appropriate areas.

7. Schedules appointments as requested accurately, to meet patient, their families and organization expectations.

8. Works with office team to provide a competent, smooth running office that meets the needs of the department as well as the public.

9. Works with contributors regarding donation, commemoratives, and fundraising inquiries, including appropriate depositing of donations.

10. Documents and maintains files on volunteers, training, continuing education/in services, recruiting/retaining efforts, and public relation activities. Maintains compliance with state and federal volunteer requirements. Responsible for review of orientation and training programs, recruitment, orientation and ongoing competencies of the volunteer program.

11. Maintains volunteer cost savings report per guidelines.

12. Records and distributes minutes of department and staff meetings, as assigned or requested by the Director, or Educator. Maintains files of such.

13. Generates statistical reports as requested. Prepares and files end-of-month reports per standards for Director.

14. Responsible for volunteer appreciation recognition.

15. May work on special projects with other team members, with the goal to include volunteers in all efforts.

16. Types and documents accurately and timely per instructions of the director and departmental management.

17. Reserves meeting rooms and works with food service and housekeeping to insure appropriate set-up of room for meeting.

18. Types policies, forms, contracts, and correspondence accurately and timely as assigned or directed by Director, or Educator.

19. Insures donors are acknowledges in a timely manner and records are maintained for easy retrieval when needed.

20. Maintains computer files and databases for each retrieval of information as needed or requested.

21. Participates in volunteer meetings, has strong relationships with system hospital volunteer coordinators and other hospice volunteer leaders, offers unique suggestions to enhance the hospice volunteer program and hospice program overall.

22. Reviews documentation of patient care volunteers/volunteer paperwork reviewed and in record no later than every 72 hours.

23. Updates core care plan every two weeks and PRN by attending IDT.

24. Develops and provides a program of orientation and education for volunteers. Provides emotional support to volunteers. Evaluates volunteer performance. Recruits, trains, and rewards volunteers. Evaluates volunteer utilization and identifies areas for improvement.

25. Performs public speaking for Hospice as needed.

26. Identifies the stages of death and dying,

27. Demonstrates knowledge of specialized needs of the terminally ill patient per hospice philosophy, policy, and procedure.

5. Must be able to make visits to patients' homes when required.

6. Must be able to do public speaking and volunteer recruitment.

10. Must be capable of using computers to input and retrieve information.

11. Demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience required.

12. Demonstrates good organizational and marketing skills.
