Warren State Hospital is seeking a hardworking and passionate Speech Language and Hearing Specialist who wants to make a positive difference in the lives of patients with auditory, speech, and language disabilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Speech Language and Hearing Specialist, you will be responsible for creating treatment programs of individual and group therapy for persons with auditory, speech, language and related disabilities. You will work with speech, language, voice, hearing, chewing, and swallowing problems to maintain the highest level of independence and safety among patients. Additionally, you will provide in-service training to fellow staff members.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Work schedule may change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Completion of all requirements for a Master's Degree, excluding a thesis, in the field of communicology or a related area, including or supplemented by not less than 24 credit hours in speech pathology and/or audiology earned at either the graduate or undergraduate level.

Conditions of Employment:
  • You must be in possession of a certificate of clinical competence from the Council of Professional Standards of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and/or licensure as required by state law or regulation for professional employment in public schools or approved private schools.

Other Requirements:
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
