Foth is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Electrical & Controls Designer who is looking for new learning experiences, opportunities for career growth, and a desire to contribute to our clients' success. This position will be working out of our client's Mehoopany, PA location. The following responsibilities will be performed under the guidance of a senior engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work in an on-site/manufacturing environment to support operations and engineering projects
  • Work as a part of a multi-discipline team
  • Execute projects in accordance with required safety protocols
  • Execute project in accordance with the proposal/Scope of work agreed upon (within budget, to scope and on schedule)
  • Build quality into, inspect defect out of and drive consistency of the final technical deliverable
  • Assist in developing proposals and estimates for scopes of work (including estimated labor requirements, prepare discipline related tasks and associated budgets and schedules)
  • Plans and organizes the work of drafters, designers, and technicians (including external resources)
  • Effectively utilize CAD software to conceptually design and layout systems, review and modify designs (eg: drawings, 3D models, point cloud scan data, clash detection & resolution, BIM Coordination) with appropriate level of guidance from engineers/PMs
  • Research / gather information from existing Foth and client project archives to aid in the design process
  • Obtain and document data from the field (field measurements of existing structures, equipment, and systems) and provide onsite project support
  • Utilize industry accepted design practices, standards, and calculations to complete technical deliverables
  • Provide input to technical project conversations (project communications updates, design reviews, field prep meetings, design/model review)
  • Produce written documentations manage/file drawings and documents to web-based sites as required by clients/projects.
  • Specify equipment or select correct components and interface with vendors as needed
  • Use and continuously improve standard work processes (including development and maintenance of CAD libraries, templates, and databases)
  • Interpret engineering mark-ups to drawings and assure the accuracy of the transfer of that information to subsequent drawings
Required Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in applicable field of study or relevant technical experience
  • 4+ years of experience with preparing electrical & controls designs including power distribution, elementary wiring, control panel layout, and cable tray and conduit routing
Required Previous Experience in the Following Technical Areas:
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical and/or Promis.e
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in industrial plants and electrical & controls applications
  • Relevant experience in electrical code application
  • Relevant experience in schematic design of industrial control panels
  • Relevant experience in schematic design of industrial network and power system
Preferred Previous Experience with the Following Software:
  • AutoCAD 3D
  • Recap
  • Navisworks
  • Experience collecting 3D scanning data and working with point clouds
