Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Medical Staff Credentialing, coordinates the credentialing and re-credentialing of Medical, Dental, Podiatric Staff/Moonlighters/Advanced Practice Professionals and coordinates specific projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make AMH the hospital of choice for patients and employees.

2. Assists medical staff members relative to their relationship to and responsibilities at Abington Memorial Hospital.

3. Working with medical staff president, responsible for agendas and minutes of assigned medical staff meetings.

4. Responsible for completing credential folders for new applicants, attending credential committee meetings and editing credential committee minutes. Prepares credentialing file for new applicants to medical, dental and podiatric staff.

5. Organizes Frobese Day activities and helps coordinate new physician luncheons.

6. Queries National Practitioner Data Bank for new physicians at reappointment as well as for Advanced Practice Professionals.

7. Has overall responsibility for the reappointment process for medical staff on an annual basis, and provisional year appointments.

8. Attends meetings of the following groups: Professional Affairs Committee (AMH Board Committee); Medical Staff meeting and Credentials Committee (interfacing with AMH Trustees). Responsible for minutes of these meetings.

9. In the absence of Office Manager and Secretary III, takes full responsibility for all functions in the Chief of Staffrsquo;s office. Answers phones and performs general receptionist functions.

10. Performs duties as Notary Public for physicians and hospital personnel

11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: 3-5 years experience in a healthcare organization or experience with a Medical Staff Office.
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelorrsquo;s Degree preferred
  • License Certification and Registration: None
  • Other Requirements: Excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills
