Job Description
Employment Specialist provides full spectrum support activities across the life cycle of a participant’s working life including but not limited to: direct vocational assessment, job development, benefits analysis and job coaching services to participants. The Employment Specialist will participate in identifying needed supports to overcome barriers to employment. The foundation of all activities will focus on independence and self-sufficiency through meaningful community participation, contribution, and membership.  A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.

Essential Duties and Functions

Vocational Assessment, Job Development, Job Coaching
  • Provides job development, job support, and self-employment assistance across all vocational domains.
  • Identifies and responds to the needs of the participants in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers that limit productivity in work  activities. 
  • Provides supported employment insight and goals to the individual, for updated based upon the specific needs of the individual, with the aim of maximizing physical, emotional, and mental health.
  • Assists participants in reaching the goals identified in the ISP or IPE.  
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries.
  • Supporting individuals in the place of their employment
Administration
  • Provides emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed.
  • Provides all forms of job finding and support for individuals pursuing self-employment, as well as traditional jobs.
  • Completes all documentation timely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service, Health or Vocational/Rehabilitation field.  
  • 2 year of community-based vocational experience, preferably in the intellectual disabilities, autism or mental health system.
  • Knowledge of community resources, experience in consumer advocacy, and the capability of participation in a team format is essential. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position. 


Addendum
 
  • In lieu of the above Bachelor’s Degree, IDEATE requires a HS Diploma/GED and Employment Support Services credentialing from one of the following upon hire.
    • Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the APSE; OR
    • Professional Certificate in Employment Services from an ACRE-approved trained member OR
    • CWIC or WIP-C certification in current standing with the Social Security Administration
  • Complete staffing assignments as assigned across all vocational domains: Competitive and Self-Employment at required billable productivity levels
  • Intermediate or Advanced proficiency in two or more of the following technologies:
    • Adobe Creative Suite, Logic, SalesForce, Bullhorn, Final Cut Pro, CRM, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, vocational robotics, Animation, MS Teams, MS Excel
  • Commitment to Employment First Best Practices
  • Ability to support individuals to develop job skills in competitive employment and self-employment.


Working Conditions
This role is a mobile and community-based and requires significant driving.
