What success looks like in this role:

  • Self-directed within management guidelines.

  • Mentor more junior Engineers.

  • Recommend/develop improvements.

  • Initiate discussions both within and outside the extended team. Resolve issues. Escalate issues as and when required.

  • Act as an expert in an area of a product. Demonstrate strength in more than one key area. Familiar with the system of which the product is a part. Research new technologies and testing methodologies. Solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business

  • Estimate, plan and manage multiple concurrent tasks or subprojects. Capture actual efforts in status reports. Report, submit and track defects in programs.

  • Analyze technical requirements in area of expertise and inputs to proposed solutions.

  • Conduct technical feasibility studies with assistance.

  • Design components of products, solutions or test cases at product level. Write product specifications, design documents or test plans. Participate in the identification of the testing configuration for the overall solution

  • Implement components of products or solutions. Implements complex features or test cases. Prepare user documentation or provide inputs for creating user documentation as required. Develop quality components and ensure that created module meets all performance, quality, reliability and functional requirements by analyzing and debugging issues. May be required to modify any written code as necessary.

  • Develop test plans for assigned products, product areas, or solutions. Write/run tests.

  • Review design specs and develops plan for testing a product. Execute tests at the product level. Lead system set-up and maintenance efforts.

  • In-depth analysis and debug of problems. Recommend suggested solutions to problems. Proficient in the analysis of diagnostic traces. Assist vendors in problem resolution.

  • Fix defects in broad areas of code. Solve complex problems with some assistance. Assist/Train others. Review external customer User Communication Forms (UCF's) for specific products and update or create new test cases as appropriate.

  • Handle Contacts and UCF's in multiple product areas. Expedite resolutions. Identify product supportability improvement opportunities.

  • Coordinate effectively in virtual teams. Understand regional cultural considerations and form tight working relationships.

  • Expected to learn new technologies and continue to expand expertise.

  • Participates in Innovation activities by commenting and generating ideas. Can lead a small team working on an innovative idea. Creation of Knowledge Documents.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Computer Science/EE undergraduate degree, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience within a software or systems engineering organization with high-level expertise in a specific solution/technology.

  • Understand Product Life Cycle management in a systems engineering environment, with a focus on agile methodologies.

  • Ability to work in a global team, with multiple stakeholders across functions and geographical regions

  • Ability to communicate tasks, requirements, design information with clients.

  • Knowledge of Engineering Concepts

  • Proactive, analytical and capable of influencing and providing decision support

  • Team Player, leader and mentor.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good command of the English language

Focus Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of network infrastructure and protocols

  • Knowledge of network engineer software tools and coding languages

  • Analytical skills to determine how existing software can be enhanced
