The salary range for this role is:

$23.55 - $26.55

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the QA Manager, safely and cooperatively assist with a wide variety of QA responsibilities that may include; auditing and related responsibilities, document control, recordkeeping, product holds, product samples, internal plant programs, customer samples, laboratory responsibilities, QA related tasks when in and out of production and employee job training to ensure proper procedures are routinely performed, to ultimately produce a safe quality product meeting both company policy and governmental regulations. Work will require computer knowledge and a thorough knowledge of internal processes and requirements.

Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities include: Ensure product safety through enforcement of company policy and regulatory standards. Enforce company quality standards. In addition, this position works with other plant personnel in a team environment and complies with company policy, regulatory and company standards.

Responsible to assist with a wide variety of Quality Assurance related responsibilities. Though not all inclusive, the following outlines both administrative and physical tasks applicable to this position as it presently exists. Given frequent unexpected internal and external process changes, the incumbent must be capable to flex with necessary changes as it relates to this assignment.

Office and administrative tasks:

  • Maintain the QA hold database, including Restraining Orders (RO), Product Disposition Requests (PDR)
  • upon receipt of Hold Memos and entering hold and disposition data.
  • Compare warehouse inventory databases to the QA database to assure accuracy each week. Review
  • Stock Status Report accuracy and reconcile if differences are found.
  • Prepare quality reports, forms (create and revise) and any other typing or data entry needed.
  • Update manuals, policies, procedures, plant programs, training aides, and work instructions as needed.
  • Maintain corrective action database / Create, update, and verify corrective action reports.
  • Work with supervisory staff in preparing the plant and all necessary documents for internal and third party
  • audits (responsibilities may include internal plant programs such as CAPA, SCAR, Food Safety, Sanitation, and any other related documents).
  • Review records as directed to ensure safe and quality products are being produced.

Physical tasks:

  • Ensure adequate training is completed with seasonal employees in jobs that monitor Critical Control Points. This includes the ability to work on the production floor to train new employees in key quality positions.
  • Conduct floor audits to ensure employee comprehension and enforce requirements are met.
  • Conduct Sanitation, Metal to Metal, Glass & Brittle Plastic inspections/surveys, and prepare applicable reports.
  • Physical verification of lots restrained, as needed. Conduct inventory audit of Class A holds weekly and Class B holds monthly.
  • Prepare non-conforming samples for evaluation.
  • Package and ship samples for co-packs, buyers, and other sample requests.
  • Work with lab personnel to complete routine maintenance of equipment, inventories, and lab sampling procedures. Calibrate equipment as needed.
  • Participate in safety and DMPS related activities as directed.

Incidental Functions:

  • Assist in training employees.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years or education equivalent
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in related field required such as; Lab Technician, Food Science etc.
  • Required working knowledge of PC's to include Microsoft applications (Access a plus)
  • Previous manufacturing quality auditing experience preferred
  • Basic math skills required
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Capable of conducting / training group presentations
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish, preferred but not required
  • Ability to communicate in English, to include both writing legibly and speaking a must.
