In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of technical tasks related to the inspection of materials produced at asphalt, concrete, and aggregate plants. Your main objective will be to ensure that these materials meet the required specifications, contract documents, and approved Quality Control Plans. This will involve conducting tests and following the Pennsylvania Test Method (PTM) methods, as well as relevant standards from the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). You will also be responsible for verifying the accuracy of laboratory reports and making observations during shipments to ensure that the materials delivered meet the required specifications.
Additionally, part of your role will involve witnessing technicians in Portland cement plants, asphalt plants, and aggregate quarries as they perform tests and maintain quality control during the production of these materials. It will be important for you to accurately document the sampling and testing techniques used for each specific type of material, following the designated methods. In the event of any potential problems, you will need to identify them and offer a resolution if possible. It is crucial that you report any problems to your supervisor in a timely manner to ensure that appropriate actions can be taken.
