Job Description
About us

One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

The Global IT Enterprise Systems team at ViaSat plays a crucial role in enabling business operations and driving user productivity using secure and scalable platforms. As our company expands in new markets, we are helping engineering teams develop faster, end users collaborate more effectively and piloting AI tools to automate tasks - all with employee experience in mind.

And as we shift towards SaaS products, we are looking for an upbeat and experienced Atlassian Architect to join our team! Not only will you have an exciting opportunity to drive our migration from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud, but you will be in the forefront to define the architecture as we consolidate our Atlassian footprint and other collaboration solutions. Although the Jira Cloud migration is one effort, continuing to tackle problems for our customers, ensuring our applications are secure and available, and seeing how new features will bring value to our end users are top of mind.

The day-to-day

  • Engage with customers on solving problems for agile planning and collaboration using Atlassian tools. Advise how to leverage products (Jira, Confluence, Statuspage, etc.) and plugins
  • Monitor system availability and usage. Work with Cybersecurity to ensure applications meet security requirements, which includes design and implementation of bring-you-own-key encryption and other features
  • Engage with vendor support for troubleshooting or issues identified.
  • Work with Product Owner to define technology roadmap based on Atlassian tool releases and needs within the company.
  • Champion strong adoption and find ways to drive employee productivity/experience through the use of technology. May be Atlassian today, but can be another product tomorrow.
  • Build POC and models when piloting new technology, especially with AI/LLM models.

What you'll need

  • 3+ years in Jira and/or Confluence Cloud administration. Atlassian certifications are a plus.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS platforms and cloud environments, as well as working with Rest APIs, webhooks, native or app-based automations.
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian installations, migrations, customization, patching, and plugin installation.
  • Strong knowledge of security practices, encryption, and access controls.
  • Excellent analytical skills and agility to work in a dynamic environment with a growing distributed team.

What will help you on the job

  • Design and implement solutions that are scalable, secure, and brings value to our customers.
  • Passionate about leading change, but aware that change may take time and many parties involved.
  • Stay current with Atlassian tools, (roadmap, vulnerabilities), in the industry.

Salary range

$94,800.00 - $164,800.00 / annually
