DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Deputy Executive Director, you will manage internal operations of the Executive Office and function as a key member of the Executive Management Team, taking on responsibility for identifying, developing, and discussing major issues confronting the Commission that must be ultimately resolved by the Executive Director. A major responsibility of this position involves coordinating, directing, and intervening on behalf of the Executive Director with commission program managers and region directors to identify and resolve problems, participate in establishing goals and objectives, strategic planning, program analysis, proposal development, and the formulation of requisite policies. Work also involves coordinating various aspects of the Executive Director's office to ensure policies are understood and implemented, and goals and objectives are achieved.


You will collaborate with the other deputy executive directors, bureau directors, and region directors to identify issues, programs, and ideas needed to implement the Commission's strategic plan and long-term budget plan. You will also have the opportunity to represent the Game Commission in communications with local, state, and federal associations, various interest groups, and individuals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of progressively responsible administrative management or staff experience, including three years of experience in directing and managing a major function within a conservation agency and a bachelor's degree in wildlife management, biology, public administration, or a closely related field. Appropriate training and experience may be substituted for these requirements except the three years of experience in directing and managing a major function within a conservation agency.
