As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will provide structured on-the job training and shop instruction for inmates to promote employability upon their release. The instruction you provide includes classroom training about the inspection, repair, and overhaul of automotive equipment. You can expect to supervise the inmates closely during their instruction and work assignments. In this position, you determine procedures, tools, equipment, and materials to be used by inmates in carrying out assignments determined by work orders. You will also inspect the completed work assignments under general supervision before they are reviewed to ensure they are in accordance with industry and trade competency standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.

• All positions require an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
• All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection Certification.
• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic Certification for Class C vehicles and Class 7.
