Position Overview

The BioPharma Business Development Senior Manager is accountable to build and cultivate relationships with BioPharma partners to leverage the Precision Oncology portfolio to advance BioPharma clinical programs and objectives. The role is responsible for building and executing a BioPharma partnering strategy to establish scientific dialogue to enhance product innovation, support development of breakthrough treatments, and consider appropriate regulatory and commercialization strategy for partnership opportunities. The role will ensure the needs of BioPharma partners are understood and considered in the Exact Sciences portfolio and test levels strategies and mutually beneficial partnerships are considered, formed, contracted, and executed. The role will follow emerging trends and needs in BioPharma therapy development, data requirements, and clinical trial evolution with respect to molecular diagnostics.

This position can be corporate (Madison, WI, Redwood City, CA, San Diego, CA, or Phoenix, AZ) or field based.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop relationships and collaborations with BioPharma customers to understand their needs for diagnostic tests and services that will support their clinical studies, trials, and products coming to market.
  • Introduce Exact Sciences current and pipeline tests, services, and other supporting capabilities to BioPharma companies.
  • Articulate the unique value propositions of Exact Sciences and work with leadership to craft proposals and solutions for BioPharma collaborations.
  • Negotiate collaboration contracts with BioPharma companies and structure mutually beneficial collaboration programs.
  • Manage overall business relationship with BioPharma companies over the lifetime of the collaboration and across all collaboration programs.
  • Achieve revenue targets associated with BioPharma collaborations.
  • Monitor competitive activity within BioPharma collaborators and provide feedback internally.
  • Provide regular, synthesized feedback on emerging BioPharma therapeutic trends and the molecular diagnostics needs of BioPharma companies to help shape the direction of current and future products; in essence, be the voice of the customer.
  • Participate in company-sponsored trade shows, national conferences, and meetings representing the BioPharma team.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.

  • Outstanding communications skills with a strong ability to persuade and drive collaborations to mutually beneficial outcomes.

  • Ability to travel 50% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or relevant area; or Associates degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Genomics, BioPharma, and/or diagnostics business development.
  • Deep knowledge of oncology biomarkers and genomics, as well as diagnostic approaches to managing targeted therapies.
  • Solid understanding of the diagnostic development and therapeutic development processes including product development, clinical, quality, regulatory and commercialization requirements.
  • Strong track record of collaborating across multiple functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex business development, sales, or other projects.
  • Excellent ability to develop and manage strategic collaborations.
  • Deep relationships across a variety of BioPharma companies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with translational research, clinical trial operations, and biomarker development.
  • 5+ years of experience in Genomics, BioPharma, and/or diagnostics business development.

Salary Range:

$129,000.00 - $208,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - MA - Boston on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
