* Provide knowledge and expertise in NMR, structure elucidation and reaction mechanisms to support the discovery and development of drug candidates
* Provide expertise, knowledge and strategic vision to enhance and expand NMR experimental approaches in structure elucidation including tailored approaches to meet the specific needs of stakeholders.
* Provide technical and scientific creativity in resolving non-routine issues associated with structure identification studies
* Serve as a mentor to team in developing scientific expertise
* Troubleshoot experimental and instrumental issues
* Comply with the requirements of Quality, Safety and GSK policies and procedures and ensure that GSK intellectual property is protected.

Further expectations:
* Contribute to and effectively work within matrix teams comprised of colleagues from both within and outside of their own department

  • Ph. D. with 5+ years or a Masters degree with 10+ years of NMR experience in small and/or large molecule structure elucidation.
  • Experience with the state-of-the-art NMR instrumentation in order to provide key information for projects at all stages of pharmaceutical discovery and development.
  • Experience in NMR spectroscopy and structure elucidation; demonstrated ability to apply 1D, 2D and heteronuclear NMR techniques specifically to the structural elucidation of small molecules (e.g., impurities/degradants/metabolites) and/or large molecules (e.g., oligonucleotides, proteins, monoclonal antibodies).

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Educated and trained in Pharmaceutical or Chemical Sciences
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern NMR pulse sequence programming and AU/macro programming on Bruker spectrometers.
