THE POSITION

If so, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is seeking a Fishing Boating Facilities Supervisor to oversee essential work within Somerset County. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Fishing and Boating Facilities Supervisor, you will be responsible for the grounds maintenance and operation of the public fishing and boating facilities and impoundments either owned or leased by the PFBC in Maintenance Area 2, which is a multi-county region in southwestern Pennsylvania. You will provide work crews with supervision and direction, while ensuring prioritization of tasks as necessary. This includes supervising the construction, maintenance, and repairs of dams, docks, launch ramps, walkways, parking areas, and more in addition to completing and maintaining daily usage and repair reports regarding assigned equipment. Within this role, you will also attend meetings of the various divisions within the commission, other state agencies, or county, city, and boroughs. When necessary, you will speak at public meetings and prepare written correspondence and reports neatly, clearly, and accurately.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Fishing and Boating Facilities Maintainer (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years of experience as a lead worker, skilled tradesman, or skilled equipment operator in the construction or repair and maintenance of outdoor recreational facilities or facilities of comparable scope and complexity.

Necessary Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid motor vehicle license.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in Somerset, Somerset County, and surrounding areas.
  • You must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Indicate highest level of education.
  • Experience as a supervisor, tradesman, or equipment operator in the construction and maintenance of outdoor recreational facilities or facilities of comparable scope and complexity.
  • Experience in laboring work, including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction.
  • Experience in grounds keeping work (mowing, trimming, mulching, raking, weed control or snow removal).
  • Experience in maintenance (repairing tools, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, or vehicles).
  • Experience reading blueprints/constructions plans.
  • Experience in building maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
  • Experience in custodial/cleaning work.
  • Experience in supervision.
