THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is seeking a dynamic Corrections Employment Vocational Coordinator to join the team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) Chester! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Employment Vocational Coordinator (CEVC) you provide employment and skills development opportunities to inmates within the SCI Chester. You are responsible for managing inmate jobs. This includes both academic and vocational program assignments for which inmates are compensated.

In addition, you are responsible determining job vacancies, interviewing, and reviewing all inmates before they are assigned to work details. You provide vocational counseling directed at employment and skill development opportunities for the inmate. Also, you coordinate and implement the inmate payroll and compensation system.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $56,900.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of para-professional experience in obtaining and evaluating vocational or employment information; or
  • Two years of experience as a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training .

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
