THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Wildlife Biologist 3 provides wildlife management, supervision, and expertise at the regional and field level. This includes supervising and facilitating Bureau of Wildlife Management programs to tag, monitor, and evaluate wildlife populations and habitats, as well as providing direct technical assistance to private landowners, public land managers, the regional director, and regional staff. You will also oversee regional wildlife health program activities, perform a full range of supervisory and management functions, and represent the region at meetings and on committees. Share your knowledge and expertise to help manage, protect, and conserve the Commonwealth's wildlife resources for all!

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Flex scheduling may be available.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Wildlife Biologist 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of technical wildlife research and evaluation experience and three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or
  • Three years of professional experience in wildlife management research, and a bachelor's degree that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes thirty-six college credits in wildlife management, wildlife biology, animal or plant ecology, zoology, botany, or a closely related field, and six college credits in statistics or biometry.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
