DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, your main responsibility will be to collect survey data using a survey controller and/or field notes. This will involve performing various mathematical computations such as math, trigonometry, algebra, and geometry. Additionally, you will be operating equipment such as total stations, levels, digital levels, data collectors, survey controllers, and GNSS receivers.
As part of a survey team, you will also have the opportunity to take on a leadership role, acting as the lead worker. In this capacity, you will assist the Survey Technician Supervisor in reviewing important documents such as construction plans, deeds, tax maps, subdivision and land development plans, and property plats. Furthermore, you may be required to step into the role of the Survey Technician Supervisor in their absence, taking on additional responsibilities and ensuring the smooth operation of the survey team. Another aspect of this position involves acting as a prism person, which entails locating physical features to aid in the development of CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) developed topographic and contour plans. Your work in this area will be reviewed by the Survey Technician Supervisor for completeness and accuracy. In order to carry out your duties effectively, you will also be responsible for operating department vehicles to transport the survey crew and equipment to various work sites. Additionally, you will be involved in setting stakes, rebar, and benchmark disks as needed. Lastly, you will collaborate with the Survey Technician Supervisor in setting up traffic control measures to ensure the safety of the survey team and other individuals in the vicinity. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to established protocols.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
  • One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license.
