This position serves as a Civil Engineer Hydraulic within the Eastern Section of the Division of Dam Safety. The employee is involved in engineering work as required for implementing the Dam Safety Program as mandated by Act No. 325, 1978, Dam Safety and Encroachments Act. The primary duties concern the regulation of dams and reservoirs in order to protect the health, safety, welfare and property of the people. The employee performs technical duties on hydrologic and hydraulic studies, preliminary design of dams, levees and other hydraulic structures and economic analyses and cost estimates. Work is assigned by the Eastern Section Chief and/or a senior civil engineer who provides assistance on difficult problems and reviews work upon completion.
If this position is filled as a Civil Engineer Trainee, the incumbent will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer Hydraulic.
