Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Construction Superintendent with Oil/Gas pipeline, terminal and/or processing facility maintenance and construction experience (both regulated and non-regulated) and a comprehensive understanding of pipeline and facility operations to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

The Construction Superintendent will support the Construction Services team's initiatives and act as the team's field level liaison and point of contact to Buckeye E&C and District contract Project Inspectors. This is a diverse position that requires a wide range of pipeline operations, construction and maintenance experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Schedule and facilitate contractor Person in Charge (PIC) training.
  • Mentor contractor PIC's and contractor project inspectors to ensure understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  • Perform on-site performance assurance reviews of E&C and District project Inspectors.
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide technical guidance as required for maintenance and construction related inquiries from project teams.
  • Provide technical insight and continuous improvement recommendations on the construction management programs, procedures, processes, and tools.
  • Participate in construction and maintenance project planning meetings (i.e., pre-bid, stakeholder engagement, readiness reviews, kickoff, etc.).
  • Assist in the maintenance and ongoing development of technical inspection guidelines which outline roles, responsibilities, qualifications and deliverables for project inspectors.
  • Foster relationships and maintain open communication with Buckeye E&C and Regional Project Managers, contract inspectors and inspection firms.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the inspector database.
  • Provide customer service as it relates to the Construction Services Department.
  • Support Construction Services Team initiatives.
  • Participate in incident investigations as required.

Position Requirements:

  • 5-10 years' oil/gas pipeline industry experience with a working knowledge of regulatory compliance, pipeline inspection, general pipeline construction and maintenance quality principles, project management and pipeline operations, with focused understanding of the following:
  • Pipeline construction safety.
  • Welder qualification
  • Visual weld inspection
  • Operator Qualification
  • Project documentation requirements
  • Open trench and trenchless excavation
  • Out of service tank inspection
  • Strong understanding in civil and mechanical pipeline construction with the ability to read and interpret construction documentation.
  • Experience auditing construction projects and contractor work product on oil and gas industry related projects.
  • Working knowledge of Construction Regulations, Standards and related industry Recommended Practices
  • Working effectively in and contributing to a team environment and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Effectively delivering key compliance and risk mitigation messages and concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Clear understanding of Buckeye's Safety Manual, Buckeye policies and procedures, and Buckeye's Engineering Standards and Specifications.
  • Travel: Up to 50%.

Preferred Certificates & Licenses:

  • OSHA 30, API 1169, CWI, NACE are all desirable certifications.
