GENERAL PURPOSE

Lead cross-functional teams in the development of technical architectures and multi-tier network solutions that align with MillerKnoll's strategic direction. Utilize agile methodologies to architect and design enterprise-level IT solutions and ensure all project designs integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Captures and effectively communicates in-depth technical knowledge.
  • Conceptualizes, drives and executes solutions to the most complex problems.
  • Creates and monitors IT best practices.
  • Identifies and maintains external resource relationships; holding them accountable for deliverables.
  • Identifies opportunities and owns improvements to technologies and IT processes across multiple functional areas.
  • Leads the integration of new technologies or IT initiatives; will lead projects in multiple functional areas.
  • Maintains, applies and teaches IT expertise with superior results.
  • Manages medium to large project budgets; accountable for expenses.
  • Mentors global new talent by teaching IT knowledge and skills.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Presents work output in a clear and concise manner.
  • Viewed as the visionary and thought leader of a functional area outside of IT.

Additional Essential Functions

*Evaluate complex existing network systems and make recommendations for improvement.

*Contribute to overall strategic network vision and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding network analysis, design, and engineering.

*Lead in the planning, engineering, architecture, and the development of network standard used by HMI.

*Develop and maintain network documentation.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant academic discipline; Master's Degree preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Cisco CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) Certification.

Skills and Abilities

  • 10+ years of professional IT & IS experience.
  • 3 years of prior participation on project teams.
  • Global project experience
  • Applies expert knowledge of fundamental technologies to anticipate and solve complex business needs of assigned business function.
  • Understanding of current core business practices and how IT solutions support them.
  • Actively researches and integrates new technologies as business needs change.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and ability to strategically connect the needs of multiple Herman Miller functional areas.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT and functional area strategies and how they are integrated.
  • Active participant in the development of the functional area strategy.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Detail knowledge of Ethernet, wide area networking, routing, TCP/IP, voice and wireless communications.
  • TCP/IP network experience in large scale environments (over 3,000 Nodes).
  • Experience with Cisco and Meraki related hardware/products (switches, routers).
  • Working experience with wireless (802.11x) communications; Cisco and Meraki experience preferred.
  • Experience with remote access products; Pulse/Ivanti SSL/VPN preferred.
  • Experience with network security/firewall products; Fortigate preferred.
  • Experience with network load balancing products; F5 preferred.
  • Experience with network management software and network tuning tools, i.e., Wireshark.
  • Required to work unconventional hours (non-Monday through Friday 8am-5pm) and to participate in on-call rotation.
  • Ability to travel 10%-20% of time or as needed to achieve business objectives.
