In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting the District Environmental Supervisor and/or the District Environmental Manager in obtaining the necessary environmental clearance for transportation projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing all the required environmental documentation, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations, and overseeing the Department's design, construction, and maintenance activities to ensure they align with local, state, and federal environmental laws. If you're passionate about making a positive impact on the environment and have a strong understanding of environmental laws, this is the perfect opportunity for you. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role involves conducting thorough reviews and assessments of the impacts of both proposed and existing transportation facilities on the environment. This includes evaluating how projects affect various aspects such as land forms, air quality, noise levels, water quality, land use patterns, cultural resources, socio-economic factors, scenic rivers, erosion and sedimentation controls, wetlands, storm water facilities, as well as threatened and endangered species.

Additionally, the position requires the preparation of a wide range of environmental documents to document findings and recommendations. This involves attending scoping field views to gather necessary information and then communicating the level of effort required to prepare these environmental documents to design or consulting firms involved in the projects.

Fieldwork is a crucial component of this role, which includes tasks such as identifying and delineating wetlands, conducting surveys for threatened and endangered species, investigating Phase I waste sites, evaluating construction waste and borrow sites, inspecting erosion and sedimentation controls, and monitoring storm water facilities. Furthermore, the individual will assist field personnel during construction and maintenance activities to address any environmental issues that may arise.
