We are searching for a qualified Medical Records Examiner for our Office of Long-Term Living, Pittsburgh Nursing Facility Field Operations Unit. This position is responsible for reviewing medical records for facilities in the geographic area of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cameron, Clarion, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Medical Records Examiner, you interact with other agencies and departments to ensure appropriate services are provided for individuals using long-term living services. You coordinate nursing facility reviews including pre-review, entrance and exit conferences, and all appropriate paperwork.

In addition, you must possess an understanding of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) to evaluate and analyze the efficiencies to ensure compliance with the review requirements are performed. This includes ensuring that Minimum Data Set submitted to the database for accuracy and documentation support in the clinical records, reviewing the PA Pre-Admission Screening Resident Review process to ensure nursing facilities are compliant with the OBRA, performing evaluations of identified targeted individuals residing in long-term care facilities, and monitoring appropriateness of nursing facilities admissions and determine need for continued stay by reviewing clinical records, evaluating discharge plans, and interviewing staff and residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to five (5) days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Templeton.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional experience in the field of medical assistance, health care services, or human services; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training .

Special Requirements:
  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
  • This position requires the employee to have an active motor vehicle license.
