Description

Utilizing independent judgement this position will oversee the design, programming, simulation and testing of automated machinery and process to enhance reliability and efficiencies. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

GENERAL

  • May help with training and development of multi-skilled maintenance technicians,
  • Identifies safety hazards, involves appropriate manager(s) and/or employees to resolve timely, and
  • Performs other duties, assignments and projects as deemed necessary.

ENGINEERING

  • Performs troubleshooting, modification or installation of relay logic, motor control circuits, variable frequency and DC motor drive systems, motor power circuits (120V to 480V 3phase) and common utility / lighting circuits using proper test equipment and electrical prints,
  • Develop, implement, modify and troubleshoot new or existing control systems, to include the design, installation, and implementation of new control logic and automation hardware such as PLCs, HMIs and industrial computer-based systems,
  • Performs installation, setup, calibration, and field fault analysis on analog instrumentation and instrument loops,
  • Supports DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Ethernet data communication systems,
  • Determines root cause of equipment failure and develops and implements corrective actions to reduce unscheduled downtime,
  • Maintains calibration and equipment documentation and controls the distribution of prints and other documents needed for troubleshooting and repair of critical plant equipment while satisfying the documentation requirements to maintain the company's governmental and ISO certifications, and
  • Assists the Maintenance and Engineering Departments in support of all plant operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit and may occasionally be required to climb and bend. The employee is regularly required to use hand and fingers and reach with arms and hands. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently work in extreme weather, is frequently exposed to airborne particles and occasionally exposed to fumes. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.

EDUCATION: BSEE or BSEET preferred or a commensurate level of relevant industrial experience and education

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years' experience in electrical/electronic repair and automation

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience utilizing Rockwell Automation PLC, HMI and network software packages
  • Ability to use AutoCAD/AutoCADLT to modify or create control diagrams
  • Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Project Management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with production team members to gather information and suggestions for the improvement in daily work planning to achieve organizational success with minimal unplanned equipment down time
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition software and SQL databases would be very beneficial
