Job Description

Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking an Automation/ Electrical Control Technician to assist with designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all electrical components of the production facility equipment. Experience with programmable controllers, HMI's, control system design and hands-on troubleshooting is preferred. Additional skills include the ability to troubleshoot various automated production equipment under minimal supervision. This position reports directly to the Automation Electrical Control Supervisor.

Candidates with 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food manufacturing industry, and postsecondary education in automation and robotics are encouraged to apply. Experience managing large-scope projects and capital improvements, knowledge in many diverse business functions including manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and preventative functions, the ability to lead and professionally develop others, and excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills are required in this role. This position requires the willingness to work off shifts, accept emergency assistance calls, and travel to manufacturing plants as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment (motor controls, DC/AC drives and controls, frying and baking equipment, sheeters, extruders, temperature instrumentation, burner systems and controls, packaging machines, electronic scales, programmable logic controllers) etc.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control and safety circuits using electrical schematics and electronic test equipment.
  • Review and modifies existing equipment as required to meet safety, quality, and production
  • Program, troubleshoot and repair/replace sensors, scanners, vision systems, motors, variable frequency drives, and encoders.
  • Control system upgrades of existing equipment and integration of new/existing equipment
  • Develop electrical design standards and creation of electrical
  • Selection and operation of required hardware and software needed in the development of control
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve processes, efficiency and quality.

Required Skills
