Job Description

What you will do

Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the AirSide Handling Units Engineering Team. In this role, you will perform a full range of engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks. You will be responsible for all aspects and execution of Air Handling Unit design and application. This position is based in York, PA, and does require you to be onsite minimum 3 days per week.

How you will do it

  • Works collaboratively to determine best techniques/procedures/theories and applies them to analysis, design or research of mechanical equipment and components related to the HVAC industry.

  • Applies use of statistical analysis and other quality principles and tools. Possesses a mature understanding of advanced statistical analysis tools and problem solving.

  • Plans and releases complex projects/products.

  • Responsible for technical direction of designers and technicians on specific work assignments.

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers.

  • Skilled at analyzing product design requirements and recommending solutions.

  • Promotes Design for Manufacturability philosophy and simplifies complex specifications into logical design requirements.

  • Prepares, checks, and coordinates the release of documentation to support AHU component design and application.

  • Defines specifications for multiple features or products. Uses expertise to design a balanced system approach and is cognizant of all associated activities.

  • Prepares and participates in design reviews and supports technical activities.

What we look for

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related science

  • 5-7 years' experience in managing engineering projects

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (5Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)

  • AutoCAD / Inventor experience is beneficial
