Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Operations Team Leader and/or general supervision, is responsible for the safe production of the company's products within prescribed specifications and efficient machine operation which satisfies the customer requirements of quality, cost, and time using the most economical means and complying with all legal requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Adhere to quality standards and procedures supporting the positive release program and promoting quality within the operation.
  • Understand and operate production machines to safely produce a sound quality product and ensure overall equipment effectiveness in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Inspect manufactured product for faultiness and follow quality protocol when flawas are discovered.Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality. Recording results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database.
  • Clear jams in assigned equipment following safety procedures
  • Detect and report machine malfunctions promptly
  • Monitor machine during continuous production and maintain machines to prevent machine stoppages.
  • Use and read measuring equipment as required; includes gauges for quality inspection.
  • Complete charting as required to meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Document production activities each day as assigned.
  • Manipulate controls in an efficient manner to minimize waste.
  • Work with team members to make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment for self, team members, and equipment through daily maintenance, 5S, and housekeeping activities.
  • Support continuous improvement teams that will drive out waste and reduce operation costs.
  • Shall understand the BRC Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principle and BRC Food Safety Standard.
  • While conducting work functions, ensures compliance of all policies, procedures, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules (OSHA).
  • Perform various jobs of responsibility on a rotational basis, including relief
  • Forklift operations as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude(written skills test required)
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess excellent teamwork abilities, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills(written test required)
  • Detail oriented(written skills test required)
  • Ability to work all shifts including 8 or 12- hour shifts, daylight, and off-shifts as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision as well as color recognition. Good hand eye coordination is necessary.

Work Environment:

This position works in a manufacturing environment and around machinery that produces noise.The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>95 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
