Senior Technical Writer

This position is contingent upon contract award and has the possibility for a hybrid work schedule.

Purpose:

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Senior Technical Writer in the Technical Manuals Development Team. Located in Naval Surface Warfare Center (US Navy) Philadelphia, PA

Job Description:

Develop moderately complex technical information, prepare written text and illustrations, and layout and organize technical documentation.
Develop technical documentation in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and PTC Arbortext Editor for the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) Contenta system.
Research and interpret design reports, drawings, equipment procedures, and test specifications.
Write analytical and interpretive technical literature and procedures.
Communicate with engineers and other personnel for information gathering.
Perform Quality Assurance reviews.
Assist in the mentoring and training of new hires.
Establish and maintain communication with NAVSEA customer for periodic review of assigned Technical Manual Deficiency Reports.
Review Technical Manual Deficiency Reports in REMEDY for accuracy. Forward to ISEA tech code for review/concurrence, or upon final approval forward to contractor for redline incorporation/revision.

Qualifications:

Must have a five (5) years' experience in the planning and preparation of varied types of technical documentation of Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment
Must have experience shall also include 1 year of experience developing technical documentation using either the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) or the Navy PMS Editor (NPE) or equivalent.
Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Education:

Individual shall possess a Bachelor's Degree in English or Journalism.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior Quality Assurance review and S1000D experience.

Security Requirements:

Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance and the ability and eligibility to maintain a Secret clearance.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel, up to 10%.
If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:

Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Communicating with others to exchange information and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
May require climbing up/down ship ladders and enclosed spaces.

Pay Range: $83,000 - $102,000 per year
