Description

Provide a comprehensive swine production and leadership training. The program includes both on Farm and off farm training to give the Manager Trainee a good understanding of our business, company and pork industry, along with gaining practical experience and expertise in both leadership and swine production. Company housing is available for relocation !

Basics of Program

  • Approximately a 1 Year Program (Start up in JUNE 2024)
  • On Farm hands on Production Training. Be a part of the Sow Farm.
    • Trained in basic and advance processes and procedures at the farm.
    • Become certified at the highest production level in both Farrowing and Breeding & Gestation/GDU (Animal Care Specialist Level 4).
    • Given specific responsibilities at the farm to give you an opportunity to implement the programs you have learned

Leadership Training

  • Monthly Leadership Training Meetings.
  • Discussion of our business, including our goals, basic business structure, how we implement our programs on both a production and financial basis and the processes involved.
  • Other topics include People, Essentials of Swine Production, Sow Production, Finance, Swine Health, N&F Production, Marketing and Understanding of the physical facility.
  • Spend a time at the farm's office shadowing support staff, learning office procedures and activities
  • Time in the field with our Wean to Service team. Tour at least one of our Nurseries and one of our Finisher sites. Discuss key aspects of this phase of our business and the link between our sow Farms
  • Leadership Training Seminar
  • Team Building Seminar
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) Training Program, which includes principles for lean manufacturing, system variation and abnormality management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an agricultural related field. Work experience in pig production is desired but not exclusive.

Language skills:

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written in English. Spanish is desired but no exclusive.

Reasoning ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet all bio-security requirements as outlined by Animal Care policy/ procedure.
  • Consistent and reliable adherence to Animal Welfare requirements and Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to CVFF/ CLEMENS FOOD GROUP Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS; PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for more than 85% of the time.
  • Moving/ Traversing: The person in this position needs to frequently move around the Production areas of the Barns/ Farm and will be moving/ traversing more than 85% of the time to attend to the care needs of the animals.
  • Operating/ Activating/ Using/ Preparing/ Inspecting/ Placing/ Positioning: Frequently utilizes animal movement techniques, breeding or farrowing equipment, etc.
  • Ascend/ Descend/ Traverse: Occasionally ascends/ descends a ladder to work atop equipment and/ or provide routine maintenance of Electronic Sow Feeders (ESF's) or compost structures.
  • Position Self to Move: Frequently positions self to complete tasks by reaching under/ around animals, into/ out of animal crates/ pens, remove material from the floor/ walls, and assist animals in the farrowing process.
  • Communicate/ Detect/ Identify/ Exchange Information: Constant visual monitoring of sow/ animal health and well-being, frequent communication with Team Members regarding animal movements, health status, task completion, etc. Shares information regarding task completion with Farm management.
  • Move/ Transport/ Install/ Remove: Frequently moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 75 pounds, rarely moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 100 pounds. Frequently transports equipment/ materials/ animals through various areas of the Barn weighing 50 pounds or more. Frequently utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) including animal sort boards weighing up to 25 pounds and requiring the ability to twist, bend, and maneuver around the body.
  • Work Environment: Frequent exposure to loud noises, dirty/ dusty environments, hot and cold temperatures, outdoor environments, animal dander, manure, blood.
