Qualifications:

  • Masterrsquo;s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five yearsrsquo; experience working with international students in a higher education environment.
  • Experience and working knowledge of the SEVIS system for F-1 students.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal F-1 immigration regulations and the ability to provide accurate and timely information to the students and other stakeholders.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities with a service-oriented approach.
  • Self-starter with a high degree of motivation, energy, and flexibility
  • Knowledge of the Terra Dotta software system is a plus.

The Director of International Student Programs is part of the Division of Student Life and a direct report to the Dean of Students. The Director provides crucial support and guidance to the international student population on the East Falls campus while ensuring federal regulatory compliance and with The US Department of Homeland Securityrsquo;s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System: SEVIS. This position entails overseeing various aspects of international student advising including immigration advising, cultural adjustment, programming, assessment, employment, travel, and student support services. The Director works collaboratively with other campus offices, most notably, admissions, athletics, residential life, the internship office, student accounts and the graduate program directors to ensure the holistic well-being and success of these students. The Director is expected communicate on a regular basis with their counterparts at the TJU Center City campus. The Director works collaboratively with the Study Away program to support both the international exchanges and the NSE (National Student Exchange) domestic exchange program. The Director also receives some administrative support from the Program Coordinator in the Study Away office. The office utilizes the Terra Dotta software system to track, maintain and update student records.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee programming to facilitate adjustment, integration, and wellbeing for international students, including international student orientation, educational workshops and cultural and social events during the academic year.
  • Serve as PDSO, keep the university in compliance with the federal immigration regulations. Maintain the SEVIS system: student registration, I-17 updates and recertification, DSOs, work authorization for CPT; OPT and STEM OPT applications and their subsequent I-20 OPT maintenance and STEM OPT reporting.
  • Provide educational programming: CPT and OPT information sessions.
  • Manage offices operational budget. Completing and approving expense reports.
  • Support international student development and meaningful interactions across the campus community.
  • Act as staff advisor to the international student association.
  • Serve as emergency contact/incident response person for International students on the East Falls campus and as directed by Dean of Student
  • Utilize the SEVP/SEVIS, Terra Dotta, Banner, and Slate software systems.
