Job Description

Our Plats and Surveys team is actively seeking a Survey Technician to join our team in the Baltimore, MD, York, PA, or Wilmington, DE office. As a Survey Technician at RK&K you will work closely with our surveyors and engineers to provide accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting for project planning, design, and construction. Our team performs various types of surveys in support of our transportation, utility, rail, structures, environmental and site development groups in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.

This is a hybrid role, in office and remote.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and organization of project survey data, including field notes, photos, and maps
  • Perform data reduction, analysis, and quality control checks for survey data collected in the field
  • Prepare and update survey drawings using MicroStation InRoads/OpenRoads or other software as required
  • Conduct research to locate property boundaries, easements, and other relevant information in support of survey projects including
  • Property and Right of Way Surveys including deed, plat research, preparation of property mosaic CAD files from deeds, maps, field notes, and plats
  • Right of Way Easement Plats including computations and development of easements and right of way plats
  • Topographical Surveys: Processing raw data files and linework, labeling existing features, developing contours and digital terrain models
  • ALTA/NSPS Surveys - including deed and plat research, reviewing title commitments, development of ALTA/NSPS Survey plats

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Survey Technician or in a related position
  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation InRoads/OpenRoads
  • Experienced in various types of Plats and Surveys - Right of Way, Topographical, ALTA/NSPS
  • Must be a good communicator and detail-oriented
  • Working knowledge or MS Outlook / Outlook365, MS Teams and Word

Preferred Experiences/Certifications:

  • Experience working on Maryland State Highway Administration (MDOT / MSHA) and/or Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) Survey CAD standards
  • 3D scanning experience and point cloud data processing is desirable
  • Certified Survey Technician preferred, not required
