Job Summary:

Provide a high standard of clinical physics services and supervision towards the practice of radiation oncology at Einstein Healthcare Network. The physicist primary role is clinical with educational and research components. This position requires providing service to the following age population(s) adult, older adult, and frail elderly in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Responsibilities:

• Interacts with physicians, as needed, in providing physics input to dosimetrists in designing special individualized treatment planning
• Verifies dosimetry completed on patients when requested by physician. Relays any results outside acceptable parameters to the therapy staff
• Competently uses the designated treatment planning system to perform treatment planning (2D,3D and IMRT)
• Accurately and efficiently performs SRS treatment planning and all required QA procedures. Including second MU check on all patients prior to treatment delivery
• Provides coverage for dosimetrists as needed. Capable of accurately completing a routine second MU check
• Performs initial check of all patient treatment information to verify correctness of treatment parameters and that the correct parameters are uploaded into the record and verify system
• Represents Physics at weekly Portal Conference
• Efficiently performs weekly chart checks on all treatment patients. Verifies correctness of accumulated dose and note any changes and documentation if necessary
• Reviews daily morning output checks and provides physics support if problems found
• Performs Monthly QA on Linac
• Can independently and accurately perform IMRT QA on all necessary patients prior to the initiation of treatment
• Performs Yearly QA on Linac based on TG40 guidelines
• Maintains all measurement equipment to ensure quality assurance parameters are met according to state and national requirements.
• Can independently utilize new technology including conebeam CT, Respiratory gaiting, etc
• Brachytherapy
• Accurately and efficiently completes high dose rate brachytherapy treatment plans using Oncentra treatment planning system
• Performs all required QA prior to all HDR treatment procedures. This includes second MU on all patients prior to start of each treatment
• Follows all state and federal guidelines pertaining to brachytherapy treatment procedures
• Accurately and efficiently performs prostate seed brachytherapy, prostate volume acquisition, planning, OR planning
• Complies with radiation safety procedures
• Evaluates equipment amp; obtains quotes as requested.
• Assists Chief Physicist with conducting a comprehensive Quality Assurance/Improvement program related to the physical aspects of radiation oncology policy and procedures
• Provides education and training in medical physics for physicians, dosimetrists, therapists amp; radiation therapy students as requested.
• Assists in maintaining all physics policies and procedures are accurate and up to date
• Physics billing properly and timely
• Complies with hospital and Network policies regarding confidentiality
• Complies with all policies related to Emergency Procedures as defined in the Environment of Care plans. Knows personal role in event of a disaster or emergency situation
• Performs others duties as assigned/required by supervisor

• Masterrsquo;s or doctoral degree in medical physics, physics, or other relevant physical science or engineering disciplines required
• American Board of Radiology certification in Radiation Oncology Physics
