A Brief Overview
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking a pediatric psychologist to join our Division of Urology as part of our ongoing efforts to further expand the integration of behavioral health providers into various services across the hospital. The position is full-time, providing opportunities for clinical work, teaching/training, and collaborative research. Pediatric Psychologists also participate in teaching and training activities through our APA and ACGME-accredited clinical psychology and child and adolescent psychiatry training programs, as well as an extensive psychology externship program.
Division of Urology
The pediatric psychologist provides screening, assessment, consultation, and interventions within the Division of Urology/Department of Pediatrics. The pediatric psychologist works closely with the medical team to understand each child's unique condition, treatment plan, and goals. Within the DOVE Center (Dysfunctional Outpatient Voiding Education) the psychologist supports children with voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and toileting challenges, providing focused, short-term behavioral therapy to support symptom improvement and mental health. In addition, the pediatric psychologist plays an integral role in caring for patients with complex congenital abnormalities, ranging from spina bifida resulting in neurogenic bowel and bladder, to hypospadias, bladder exstrophy, and epispadias complex. These children require intensive support as they go through development, ranging from coping with incontinence, preparation for complex surgical reconstruction, and living with and growing with a congenital condition They require longitudinal support through each stage and as they go through adolescence and into young adulthood. The pediatric psychologist also participates in teaching and training through the DCAPBS pre-doctoral internship, externship, and fellowship programs as applicable. Pediatric psychologists also have opportunities to participate in collaborative research and quality improvement programs within the Division. Clinical services will be provided at the CHOP Philadelphia Campus and CHOP King of Prussia campus in addition to telehealth.
